Education
Dr. Hooman Khorasani graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a bachelor’s degree in Physiological Sciences. After completing his studies at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC), Dr. Khorasani graduated with highest distinction and was amongst the top 5% of his medical school class. He then opted to pursue a General Surgery internship year at the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center to refine his reconstructive skills and techniques. Wishing to augment his understanding of scar formation and revision, he immersed himself in a year-long research fellowship investigating minimal-scar wound repair within the division of Plastic Surgery at USC. Following this research experience, Dr. Khorasani underwent 3 years of dermatology training at the New York Medical College Metropolitan Hospital, where he was appointed Chief Resident on the recommendation of his peers and superiors. Finally, he completed a year-long advanced fellowship in Procedural Dermatology and Mohs Micrographic Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai where he received intensive training in oncologic, dermatologic, and cosmetic surgery.

Associations
Dr. Hooman Khorasani is a diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology, American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, and American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery and a fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a member of American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Professional Appointments

Dual Fellowship Program Director
Dr. Khorasani served as Program Director of the Mohs Micrographic Surgery & Dermatologic Oncology and Dermatologic Cosmetic Surgery fellowships at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai for nine years. During this time, he trained hundreds of medical residents and dozens of fellows in advanced oncologic, dermatologic, and cosmetic surgery techniques in one of the nation’s most renowned medical institutes.

Conference Chair
Nine years ago, Dr. Khorasani developed the annual Mount Sinai Spring Symposium “Advances in Facial Reconstruction & Cosmetic Surgery.” Since then, this conference has become one of the premier Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery training events in which hundreds of health care providers from around the world acquire and practice the latest surgical techniques. Much of the symposium’s success can be attributed to Dr. Khorasani’s hands-on approach in which he individually instructs conference attendees through live patient demonstrations and simulation workshops.

Co-Founder
Dr. Khorasani co-founded the globally-recognized Tisch Cancer Institute’s melanoma and skin cancer center of Mount Sinai. As an oncologic surgeon, Dr. Khorasani is proud to have helped establish a tumor board aimed at developing effective treatment plans for all forms of skin cancer in a multi-disciplinary fashion. Much of the findings put forth from this institute have been adopted by physicians around the world, helping to improve patient outcomes on a global scale.

Personal Life

Dr. Hooman Khorasani immigrated to the United States from Sweden when he was 19  years old after receiving an undergraduate scholarship from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). While studying at UCLA he met his wife, Cindy, who has been his greatest supporter and confidant throughout his academic and professional career. During Dr. Khorasani’s dermatology residency, the couple moved to Manhattan and became parents to two wonderful boys.

The whole family loves the vibrancy and culture of New York and can often be found exploring new music, art, and food in all five boroughs. In his spare time, Dr. Khorasani enjoys snowboarding, scuba diving, and basketball—especially when his wife or children participate alongside him!

As the son of Persian parents and having lived in Iran, Sweden and the United States, Dr. Khorasani is fluent in English, Farsi, and Swedish.
