Ear lobe tears from jewelry can be quite distressing. Dr. Khorasani can repair the defect with a simple and fast in-office procedure using only local anesthesia. During the initial consultation, the tear is evaluated and detail pre-op instructions are reviewed with the patient. On the day of the procedure, the ear is numbed with lidocaine, ensuring a painless experience during the remainder of the visit. Once the scar tissue is removed, the ear lobe is approximated and sewn back together. Dr. Khorasani utilizes several suturing techniques in order to reduce the formation of irregularities on the ear lobe rim. The entire procedure takes approximately 15 minutes per ear lobe. Patients return after one week for suture removal. It is advised that patients refrain from piercing the affected ear for 3-6 months after the procedure. Patients are also encouraged to avoid exercise routines for a week.
